Class 15 Floral Exhibits

Accessories may be used where stated. Please make sure that entry tickets are securely attached to containers only.

Plants dug out of the garden or artificial flowers are ineligible.

Note: Not responsible for loss or damage

Definitions:

Bloom - an individual flower, one to a stem, do not leave buds showing.

Collection - minimum of three different varieties.

Display - may be of one or more varieties.

Spike - a thick upright stem carrying several flowers.

Spray - a portion of the plant with a number of flowers on one stem.

Stem - may have one or more flowers and buds.

Prizes for Nos. 1 – 36 - 1st - $5, 2nd - $4, 3rd - $3

Potted Plants

Pots may contain more than one plant unless otherwise indicated

  1. Geranium in bloom
  2. Aloe Vera
  3. Coleus
  4. African Violet, any variety
  5. Begonia (fibrous)
  6. Collection of herbs in one container, at least 3 plants
  7. Ivy
  8. Houseplant, any variety not listed
  9. Impatiens, one colour
  10. Spider plant
  11. Houseplant grown for foliage

Cut Flowers

(Flowers are judged, not container, cut flowers must be grown by exhibitor)

  1. Marigold, French, 3 blooms, up to 2” across
  2. Marigold, African, 3 blooms, up to 5” across
  3. Snapdragons, 3 spikes
  4. Cosmos, 3 sprays
  5. Pansy, 4 stems
  6. Asters, 3 blooms, any variety
  7. Gladiola, best single spike
  8. Sweet Peas, 4 stems
  9. Black-eyed Susan, 4 stems
  10. Rose, hybrid tea, 1 bloom
  11. Rose, miniature, 1 spray
  12. Petunia, bowlful of single or double blooms
  13. Hydrangea, 3 stems
  14. Sedum, 3 stems
  15. Chrysanthemum, 3 stems
  16. Sunflower, 1 bloom
  17. Zinnias, 3 blooms under 3”, any colour
  18. Strawflower, any colour, 3 stems

Design Division - Please attach tags to bottom of design

  1. "Just Kidding", arrangement made in a child’s toy
  2. “Tea Time”, arrangement in a tea pot
  3. “Green Time” arrangement using only foliage
  4. “Mini Magic”, miniature arrangement not exceeding 5” in any direction
  5. “Rise & Shine”, arrangement in a coffee mug or tea cup
  6. “Fine Dining”, arrangement for a formal dinner table, not exceeding 12” in any direction
  7. “Opposites Attract”, arrangement using 2 complementary colours, i.e., red/green, purple/yellow, or blue/orange
